During the past months we have been participating and leading the SportsSweatID (SSID) project funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry in the framework of the Innovative Business Grants in the 2023 call. These aim to contribute to improving the competitiveness of Spanish industry with the support of the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Grant: 89.494€
Aim of the project
This project aimed to evolve the startup’s current patch into a smart patch capable of storing sweat over long periods of time and during high intensity efforts in different sports modalities, to indicate to the athlete the amount of salts lost during their physical activity.
With this, Sweanty and athletes can know in advance the water needs they will have in future trainings and competitions and prepare together an adequate and personalised hydration plan.

During the project, the device was tested with athletes from the Club Natació Banyoles (CNB) practising different sports disciplines, including rowing, athletics and cycling. With them we were able to study the different sweating speeds of each athlete and, according to their experiences, how the loss of sweat during their training or competitions affected their performance.
On the other hand, different adhesives were analysed to guarantee their adhesion in extreme conditions and, together with the industrial design company ANIMA Design, different designs and plastic materials were validated to encapsulate the device, as well as designing the packaging of the smart patches and the different screens of the App that provide personalised hydration plans.
Finally, INDESCAT as project coordinator and arahealth as a health cluster in Aragon supported the project.
